    Howdy folks.

I was doing a render test with some unedited ACVHD source footage
(1440 x 1080i, 5.1 Surround) to what I thought is was supposed to be the same
format: Render As “Sony AVCHD NTSC 1440 x 1080i, 5.1 Surround”

2 properties of the resultant rendering surpised me, and I’m hoping
    someone can explain why.

    1) Even though all audio faders were set to 0db, the rendered 5.1
audio was much lower in amplitude. Are there some settings I’m overlooking,
or is there some calibration to be made to ensure the rendered audio is identicle to the source ?

    2) The rendered File Size is approximately 15% larger than the original AVCHD file.
Afterwards, both file’s properties, as indicated with Vegas Pro 8, are identicle.
Why the diffrenece in file size… Any clues?

    Many thanks in advance,

    Dean

well not too sure what you mean by the first problem, but if you mean there is too much bass then turn down the number of busses in the options, but as for number to, the reason your getting a larger file is probably because you either resizing the frames and/or adding new sound properties and variations to the whole project. although I could be wrong

    Thanks for the reply Matthew.

To clarify… nothing was changed or edited.
Simply dropped to timeline, then immediately rendered to the same format… all audio faders/busses set to 0db (unity gain)

Re Audio… no not Bass… the entire waveform(s) was knocked down by, say, 12db.
