– I have a PC that is mainly used for capturing so as not to tie up the main video station here. However, the new main video station here is a MAc Pro. So I was wondering since the PC captures only .avi files. Is there a huge delay to convert them and or to edit them in Final Cut?
– Also I am having problems opening some 720p24 footage on my new IMAC at home. It is telling me that I am missing a codec required to decode the footage and edit it. Does anyone know where to get this codec, or any other way to solve the problem?

1) Capturung AVI is not, under any circumstances, a workflow for FCP. You need to capture some type of quicktime, preferably the same codec you are editing with – otherwise you’re not freeing up your edit system. If you need a seperate capture system, and it’s not DV capture, get a lower spec mac pro.
2) QT player does not have all the codecs for playback that FCP does. Install FCP on your system at home if you can.
