Is there a way to bring up 2 project panels in After Effects? Not as simple as double clicking a folder like premiere. I looked under the twirly menu and under Window in the menus. Any ideas????

    See this: https://aeportal.blogspot.ca/2011/04/etlat-edit-this-look-at-that.html

What you need to do is lock the the Comp viewer and choose New Comp Viewer from the Composition menu.

are we talking about the same project panel? I’m talking about where all my assets and folders show up. This tutorial seemed to be on composition and footage window.

My apologies, I misunderstood your question.

I don’t know of any way to have more than 1 project panel open.

You can only have one project open at a time. But you can import a project into another project. This will create a folder in your project containing the second project.
You can then copy stuff over, or do whatever.

Doing this won’t change the imported project. The contents of the imported project will simply be added to your project.

If I may ask, why would you want to do this?

I have a project with 70 comps. pre comps and a few hundred images. It would be beneficial to be able to open a separate project window so I could navigate through my elements easier. Instead of opening a pre comp in a folder and then having to scroll way down to the images, or up to twirl down the folder. I could have each folder open side by side.

I see where OP is coming from. same like in Premiere you can open different bins in different windows. if you want that feature, ask for it here: https://www.adobe.com/products/wishform.html

This option has been asked for in so many different apps and for me its Avid Media Composer.
With a dual screen set-up, I welcome having two Project panels in AE.

6 years on, and we still don’t have anything like Premiere’s lovely project panel in AE. Feel free to upvote my suggestion here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/after-effects-ideas/better-project-file-bin-management-like-in-premiere/idi-p/14036445#M2387
