Hey friends… I’ve been putting off upgrading my 6 YO desktop for a while now, and would love your thoughts on this Acer machine. (I’ve never owned an Acer). My current box is a Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.4GHz w/8 GB RAM.

    • Intel Core i7 6th Gen 6700 (3.4 GHz)
    • 8 GB DDR4 RAM
    • AMD Radeon RX 480 4 GB GDDR5

Changes I’d make after getting it include:
    – increase the RAM to 16 or 24 GB
    – Add an SSD drive for boot + programs (e.g. $95 275 GB Crucial drive)

I’m still editing with Vegas 10 and Vegas 14, sometimes need noise reduction. Would LOVE to really give Boris FX a chance, but despite owning some of the modules (particle), I’ve never been able to effectively use it due to it being too slow.

A good value? Would you get it?

    Hi Rob

It all come down to what kind of footage you want to edit !

    Ah.. I forgot to mention..

Currently all projects are shot 1080 either 30p, 60p or 60i. My finishing workstation edits master track footage where I apply FX, titles and master the audio. My editing station typically edits 4-7 source videos (multicam) to create that master track video for finishing.

It would be nice not to have to prerender before editing.

It would he nice if prerendering was at leat 1-to-1 speed.

It would be nice if final rendering to DVD (MPEG2) or H.264 for Web would be at least 1-1 in speed, instead of 2 or 2.5x media length.

Oh yes.. forgot to mention that source footage is shot with a mix of Sony NX3 (avchd), Canon G30 (avchd or mp4), a JVC, XHA1S (HDV) and GoPro.
