2.8 Anamorphic issues in Premier
HI,
I’m assisting with a feature in Premier Pro. It’s a legacy project on it’s 3rd director and 2nd or 3rd editor with very little paperwork and has a lot of issues so this may be the first of a few questions.
The project was shot in 2.8K (2944×2160). I did not process or sync the dailies. Some of the shots are merged and some are multiclipped. It came connected to proxy media that is transcoded a number of ways (arghh!!). Most of them are 2880×2160. Most of these proxies are squished to a 4:3 apect ratio.
A few questions:
1. When the editor (who is working on a PC – I’m on a Mac) opens a file in the source window on his system it appears normal but when he cuts it into a 1920×1080 sequence it looks squished and he has to put a motion effect on it to adjust it. When I do the same thing on my Mac it doesn’t do that.
2. Why are the transcodes marked as 2880×2160 QT’s but are squished? Moreover, why are only some of them squished?
3. Why do they behave so erratically in the 1920×1080 timeline?
4. I’m getting new pickups to process in about a week, what is the proper workflow for this material? I haven’t worked with this before.
Thanks!
