1M/E -> MacBook Pro over USB3 -> Microsoft Expression Encoder
I am “All Mac” but a company that i regulary contract for is “All PC”. I borrow laptops from them to run Microsoft Expression Encoder to stream to their platform (and their platform is not going to change).
I use a 1M/E BMD ATEM switcher ->NTSC out to a small old FireWire cam corder and use this as a capture device on their laptop.
I am trying to lean out the equipment i take on site. I want to skip the camcorder as a digitizing device. So i am looking to use the USB3 output on my switcher.
I have no laptop that has USB3. I will have to buy one to do this. If i am going to buy a laptop, i would much rather buy a mac.
Anyone know if i can run expression encoder on a Mac? Bootcamp? Parrallels? Should i be worried about USB3 drivers if running bootcamp or parrallels?
If this is not a wise route, can you recommend a tough(ish) laptop to use on the road. I am not looking for a ToughBook, but just “This one fairs better for road warriors” type of advice.
THANKS!
