  16×9 is killing me

  My blackmagic multibridge pro is just kinda there. I’ve not tapped in to it’s real potential, I just need it as a pass through from my Mac system to DVCam tape and Dvd. However, when I choose to edit a 4×3 sequence and use a 4×3 sequence in Final Cut Pro, it comes out letterboxed when I master. I’ve chosen the export setting on my black magic as Blackmagic NTSC 720×486 8 bit. I usually use an HD setting when I’m ok with letterbox but I need a 4×3. I don’t see anything else that could remotely resemble 4×3 everything else is HD. Any ideas on what I can do? Thanks in advance for your time.
