I am struggling to move to 16×9 – working on Avid MC 3.0. Shot video as 16×9 on a Panasonic PV-GS500. Editted in 16×9. I am exporting as Quicktime Ref 16×9 – it looks right in QT but when I bring it into iDVD it ends up showing 4×3. What have I missed – not done – not learned or not found in the manual. Granted I am not a high end user, but I have been using Avid since Express 1.4. Any help greatly appreciated!

The 16:9 flag is added as part of the MPEG2 encoding paramaters. It does not take it from the QT reference or file. Look in your settings for the MPEG2 and there should be an aspect ratio setting of either 4:3 or 16:9.

    Thanks for your quick reply!

    OK – on a Mac – that is under file>export>quicktime reference> 16×9 square pixel??

It’s not in the QuicTime that it is flagged. It is in the MPEG2 encoder settings.

    Export QT ref from avid.

Open QT ref in QT pro.

    Save as QT ref

    Bring into idvd
