  16×9 Event Pan/Crop = widescreen?

  hi guys,

  i’ve had some trouble outputting a file to PAL DV Widescreen

  it is made up entirely of still photos

  i used the PAL DV Widescreen template in Vegas Pro 8.0

  when i crop these pics, the 16×9 widescreen-TV-aspect-ratio default leaves a slight pillarboxing – so i chose ‘match output aspect ratio’ instead (which filled up the whole frame)

  can someone please tell me why there is a difference in framing there?

  its destined for TV, so i sent the output DV Widescreen file to get put to digi-Beta tape, and their FCP application chopped the top and bottom of pics off to fit into a 16×9 aspect…

  hmmm…grrr…

  i’ll go back and use the 16×9 template in Event Pan/Crop to crop the pics…will this solve it do you think?

  also they were talking about the difference between 1.4568 and 1.78 being the problem, but i’m not sure anyone knew the answer to that…..
