I need to have someone who has 16GB cards and someone who has a Firestore to answer the following question for me.

    I have a AG-HVX200 and I only have 8GB cards.

When recording continuously, the data gets recorded in approximately 4GB segments. The first file is 4GB and the second file is 3.1GB (audio and misc files take up the rest of the 7.2GB total storage) and when spanning across multiple cards this arrangement seems to be the same on each card.

What does the data look like on a 16GB card when you continuously record?

What does the data look like on a Firestore when you continuously record?

Does the camera have some sort of natural breaking point or will it just go and make HUGE file sizes? I would like to have someone tell me how big the files are when you shoot continuously. I called Panasonic but the idiot at the other end didn’t grasp what I was saying. I need to know so I can plan for data backup. Currently I’m using 8GB dual layer DVD’s. If the data is larger than 8GB I need to plan for DLT or some other method of storage.

    Fuzzy

    It’s just me.

The cards use the FAT32 format, which has a 4GB file size limit. So yes, the cards automatically split the files at 4GB increments.

The FS-100 splits files at 2GB increments.
