Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy 16:9 to 4:3 for web question

The actual convert to 4:3 quicktime from my hdv project is not a big deal, created the letterboxed 4:3 version just fine in compressor.

Thing is, client wants to add their url in the letterbox along the bottom. I know this would be easy to do in compressor, just use the text filter. Problem is, client needs the url to come in half way into the spot, and when it is added in compressor it’s all or nothing, no option to bring it in.

Getting a little crossed up on this, know there must be an easy way, just can’t figure it out. Suggestions?

The only way I can suggest is to add it to the letterbox within FCP before outputting using QT or Compressor. That way you have full control over the copy.
    Cheers,

Why letterbox when you can have the proper aspect ratio in QT? Is it a YouTube thing?

Yes, it’s a youtube thing. For future searchers, should this come up, a custom frame size of 1440×1440 is what you want for hdv to go to 4:3 letterbox of 16:9 material in youtube (don’t try to edit in 1440×1440, though, just dump the final cut in and render). This will allow you to correctly bring in a lower third in fcp for part of your sequence.
