OK so we shoot in 16:9, we import to FCP or FCE in 16:9 and we now want to export to quicktime to post online on our shiny new website in 16:9 but no matter how we do it 4:3 is what we get. I’m reliably informed by one of the creative guys at the Apple store that it is the problem of square pixels not rectangular ones which is what I need. Can anyone tell me how to get my videos to run as 16:9 quicktimes?

FCP or FCE which is it.

If you have FCP then you also have compressor. Export using compressor and choose one of the web presets, and the in the settings make sure you set your aspect ratio.

    Hi
With QuickTime Player Pro you just have to Shift-click drag the bottom right corner to get the movie size right (Cmd+J>Select Video Track>Visual Settings>Display Size gives you some precise figures).

Once it looks right, Save the movie, and it will henceforth play as you have adjusted it.
