    Hi all..

Sorry in advance if this has been posted already (I did a search and found nothing).

I have a film clip I’m doing for a band and it’s about 4.25mins long. Short story, I’ve filmed the shoot in 16:9, all my pre-sets are set to 16:9 Anamorphic, all clips are in 16:9, everything is perfect in FCP when editing but when I export the clip, in ANY format,..it comes out in 4:3??? Why is this?

A friend said that it should still be ok when I upload it to Youtube and when I burn it to disc in DVD Studio but why is it coming out in 4:3?

    Help please..

    Justin,

NTSC is still NTSC. It doesn’t playback in a 16:9 container. It plays back in 4:3. If you want to maintain the 16:9 ratio you’ll have to letterbox the anamorphic clip. (Thus the anamorphic — stretching to fill the frame.) If you want to do an export at 864 x 486 that will give you the 16:9 look, but might not work for your DVD. For the youtube segment, try a 480 x 270 for the 16:9 look. But if you’re looking for an SD 16:9 for DVD, you’ll most likely need to go to a letterbox in the 4:3 frame.

    Good luck!

Oh,..I forgot, I’m in PAL format.

Also,..I just exported a MOV file of it..it came out in 16:9 (YES!!) but now the video ridiculously stuttering along. I de-interlaced the file on export but still it looks bad.

Cheers for the help..I will try the LETTERBOX now and see what happens but any help with the stuttering problem would be a great help.
