  • 1400 deck firewire out – DVCPRO SD

Sorry to be a dunce, but I have been unable to find this in the manual.

When I play a DVCPRO50 or DCPRO tape in my 1400, and attempt to capture footage via firewire, I can’t see anything coming in via firewire in FCP. The footage is definitely coming out the SDI outputs of the deck, so I know the deck is reading it OK. My capture preset in FCP is for DVCPRO50.

My question: do I have to format the firewire port in some way to get SD to come through?

    Thanks in advance –

Try menu setting #880 DIF SPEED. Change from HD default 0002 to 0000 which is 100 Mbps. This should do it!

You are THE MAN – almost….

Yes, that menu did in fact cause the video and audio to start coming through into the capture tool, but I lost firewire transport control of the deck. The only way I could capture was to set device control to “non-controllable device.”

Is this just the way it is if you want to import DVCPRO though firewire on a 1400?

    Thanks –

Now it’s a FCP issue; check your setup criteria.

I was able to go to serial control. Thanks.
