Hi everybody, I’m new to creative cow. I was hoping someone could answer a few questions for me. I’m planninga standup comedy multicam shoot and I’m most likely going to use the HVX200(b). I’ve read about the time code syncing feature, which would made editing a breeze for me. I can’t find anything about having MORE than 2 cameras hooked up though. My plan is to have at least 3 cameras synced up. Can I do this with the 1394TC feature?

Also, how does this feature work? I can switch out P2 card (or tape) and as long as I don’t shut the camera off, the time code will just continue counting?

    Thank you,

    Tim Howe

You can but it might be more truble than it’s worth. Use a remote and Free run tc, and start all the cams at once with the same remote. It’ll make your life a bit easier.

I have used TC syncing in interview set ups and yes, it is a 2-camera deal, unless you get a FW splitter to go to the other cameras. (No idea if this will work) One problem in a large venue, Cameras have to be within 15′ unless you buy really expensive FW cables. You can also jam sync as many camera you have to one master camera (you unhook the FW cable after you sync it to the master camera) this locks the camera at that time. It is fine for short times but if you turn the camera off and on, you will get TC ups. When you are using this feature the cameras are set on Free Run.

The manual explains the how, if you have Barry Green’s book he does a better job explaining it.
