    Hi,

I’m shooting on a Panasonic HVX200 connected on a DTE dvcproHD recorder trough firewire. Lately i’ve been getting the infamous ‘1394 firewire disconnect’ popup, out of the blue. Meaning, while shooting or just after/before shooting. It happens while nothing for the connection or settings were changed. I assumed it might be a faulty firewire port or cable. But after reparing a port, I got the message again. It did work at first after the repair.

Before I go back to the repairservice, I wanted to make sure that this is indeed a hardware issue. Is there anything else I should/could check?

    Thanks in advance,

I believe you are dealing with a more serious hardware issue here. I’ve run into the same problem with this line of cameras and similar hardware and it’s always either been the on camera firewire port (often) or a bum DataVideo unit (less often).

I’d investigate repairing one or both of these, fireWire can be a little rough sometimes.
