13″ MBP with dual monitor / external monitor
I’ve tried searching these forums but not finding exactly what I’m looking for. I apologize if this is redundant.
I’ve got a relatively new 13″ MBP (not the retina display). I want to have an external computer monitor connected because 13 inches isn’t much to work with. I would love the Apple 27″ cinema display, but $1000 is out of my budget. I can spend perhaps $300. I’ve heard that Dell makes a large display that is compatible in quality. Outside of those two brands, I’ve heard that quality significantly decreases when doing side by side comparisons.
Question 1. What Dell display should I be looking at?
Question 2. Is there another brand that is compatible?
Question 3. Also thinking about adding an actual HDTV (consumer grade) to use as a reference monitor (thunderbolt to HDMI converter). Can I have two monitors running out of my MBP?I will be mostly using this setup for Premiere. Additionally I use Lightroom, After Effects and a few legacy projects in FCP 7.

We run the UltraSharp models here, they’re awesome. They have a more expensive line around $500 and a cheaper line around $250 – $300. Look at Costco.com for some of the best prices if you’re a member.

Just about any computer screen is compatible with the laptop. Just look for the resolution numbers. I always look for 1920×1200 minimum resolution.

If you have two thunderbolt ports or a mini display port+ thunderbolt port. You won’t be able to daisy chain two thunderbolt displays together.
