Activity Forums Panasonic Cameras 1200a question

I just rented a 1200 deck to digtize some footage for a client. We are coming out of the SD SDI and I’d like to see the footage in letterbox mode. The manual that came with the deck is pretty obscure for me and the rental people won’t be in until Mon. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also which would be a better way to go about digitzing to DV format for offlining? Use the SDI or firewire and convert?
    Thanks

Menu Item 620, position 0001: letterbox (page 43 manual)

Edit firewire HD 720 24p…. Don’t bother with DV, not worth it. Stay HD.

    Thanks for the info!
One more question, if I edit in HD how’s the downconvert to mpeg2 for
    a DVD?

Using Compressor on a Mac, it’s very very nice. We did a test of some 720p footage going through Compressor in the 16:9 mode and it was gorgeous.
