Just got my panasonic dvc pro 1200A deck back after servicing and now there is a new problem with it that I have never had before.
When I rewind a tape it acts like it doesn’t know when the beginning of the tape is approaching and rewinds full speed to the absolute beginning of the tape. After it reaches the beginning it hangs up for a while then gives me the e-71 error ( abnormal tension on the supply side has been detected in the capstan mode). I have to power the machine down then eject the tape. Now when I put the tape in it won’t play or fast forward and immediately ejects the tape.
Is there some sort of menu setting that needs to be changed since it was most likely set back to factory default or is there a physical problem with the internal parts?

Here is what was done to the deck:

Cleaned reel tables, and Replaced the following parts
    1. cassette carriage unit
    1. pinch roller
    1. head cleaner
    1. distinction switch

Also updated software at no charge

Any thoughts? I can’t afford to not have this deck in operation.

    Justin,

I’ve had similar issues with Panasonic service upon return, namely that other problems present. Not to make excuses, but they are understaffed and overworked. I’m sure they’ll repair it at no charge and pay for the shipping.

    Good luck,

    JS

Thanks for the quick response. I’ll keep that in mind.
