I have a slight problem, just go a 1200A to edit with. Hook up the SDI signal, and gave it ref signal.
Turned on the vtr, but the picture do not lock up, vertical interval is in the middle of the screen.
I tried to change cable, and signals but the same thing, Can anyone give some advice as to why
this will not lock up. Weird.

    Thank you,
    Stan Chang

    Stan,

Probable cause is that “SYS FORMAT” is set at default 0000 for 1080i, go to menu setting #020 and change to 0001 which is for 720p mode!

Let us know if this fixes your problem!

The menu setting for #20 is AV Phase? I got it to lock partically but now the deck is locked at a differerent place.
I will look for this your setting but can’t find the heading.

Menu #020! System Format 0000 is default for 1080i, use 0001 for 720p!

Thank you John for the info, But I can’t find that menu number #20. It not in the menu in the machines.
The menu number skip #20. Is there a reason this deck doesn’t have this settings. After item 09 it goes to
    022. I don’t have a clue, very frustrating. I do see the settings in the manual. What’s up with that.
I did get the edit done, had to reposition to get everything centered.

    Thanks anyway,

    Stan

    Stan,

It’s a quirk of Panasonic; after menu items 12 to 26 (HD SYS H ADV) the numbers start over again with three digits 001 to 899. It is in the three digit menues at 020 that you want to tell the machine you are sending it 720p REF signals (“for setting the format in which to record or playback the signals including the HD REF signals). For some reason the factury default is 1080i (0000); you want 720p (0001). It’s on page 35 of the instruction book!

    Good luck,

    JS
