1200A black dropouts during recording
Hi all,
trying to find out if this is normal behavior on my 1200A or if this is an issue that will require repair.
During recording on the 1200A I will see black droputs on the Component and Composite outputs. Anywhere from 1 – 5 seconds, the video will simply disappear and reappear.
The dropouts are NOT on the recorded tape, but this caused quite a problem on a recent project when we were trying to also record a downconvert SD signal simultaneously. I’m seeing these dropouts on about a regular 2 minute cycle.
It’s also a bit disconcerting to the client who’s viewing the Component output of the deck during record and suddenly seeing a black hole. Anyone else see anything like this during record with the 1200A?

If you are recording out via firewire, this is a known issue. There is no fix. I suggest recording out to HD, then play the recorded material out to SD.

Nope, no Firewire in the mix and I’ve heard about this issue.
We had a Varicam feeding the HD-SDI Input of the 1200A and then feeding the Component HD output to a Sony PVM20L5/1 and the Composite SD downconvert to an SD deck. Black dropouts appeared on both outputs.
