I have just updated to FCP 5.0.2 and Decklink 5.

When I capture I get loads of audio channels and I only want 2 channel stereo. How do I do this? There doesn’t seem to be a setting to swith to just 2 channels when using SDI input. This worked before with FCP 4 and decklink 4.8

    regards

    Richard

    Hi Richard,

In Log & Capture, click on the Clip Settings tab and then look at the audio channels. Click on the green speaker icons next to the audio channels you wish to disable. They should change from bright green to dull green to indicate they have been disabled. This setting should remain when performing future captures.

Final Cut Pro HD 4.5 and older did not support multi-channel audio capture and so you did not need to do this in the past. Multi-channel audio capture is a new feature of FCP5 and is fully supported with the DeckLink 5.0 drivers.

    Thanks that explains it beautifully!

I assume I toggle the little icon next to tracks 1 and 2 to the joined rings for stereo?

    Again many thanks

    regards

    Hi Richard,

I’ve made you famous as this question has come up again. So I’ve posted a technical note “2 channel stereo capture in Final Cut Pro HD 5.0” with your original question 🙂
