10bit Quicktimes @ 2180×720 super blocky
CS4 on a Mac (10.5.8)
Exported a 1280×720 sequence as a 10bit uncompressed QT. Looks great in QT player. CS4 reads it as a VERy chunky/blocky file…. looks like I’m in quarter proxy mode!
Any thoughts?

That was my initial thought too – but it’s seeing it correctly as progressive.
the only codec I can export from FCP that’s working is “none.” This project was given to me with a bunch of greenscreen as “none” codec. I’m going to go foward with it like this, but I still don’t understand what’s happening.
UPDATE: it works FINE in CS3 on the same computer. All the codecs.

Need to do more thorough testing, but ANY 1280×720 footage @ 23.98fps is having this issue. Just in CS4.

Right on all accounts. 23.976, Square pixels (not 960×720). Comp matches footage. But it even looks like that in the footage viewer!
I believe the QT engine might be frazzled. In the info panel for different footage, under Millions of Colors, I’m getting things like “apch” for ProRes, “qelr” for animation codec, “912v” for uncompressed, and “62vd” for DVCPRO standard def. Whereas in CS3 it properly reports the codec.
Last time I updated my Kona 3 software I also loaded the AJA Mac Plugins for CS4. But that caused output problems so I uninstalled them. I’ll reinstall After Effects and see if that solves the problem.

Yep. It was the AJA Adobe plugins for CS4. Cleaned ’em out and everything is crispy again.

Hi there, I’ve been searching for a solution to my problem on Ae. I found this thread and although it’s a bit late I shope you can help. Im trying to set my text to 5px and as soon as I do this it goes pixelated. I’m newish to Ae as I mainly use Ps and Ai for work. I’ve changed the composition size to 730px x 480px because I need it to fit some pages from a book on which I am projecting.
