April 28, 2006 at 6:09 pmI hate to go back and forth about this and keep questioning what you are seeing, but you have obviously done something wrong. FCP DOES support 24p media, and has for a while, although the implementation of 1080p24 is very recent. My thinking is that you have not shot 24pa, but rather 24pNormal.
You do have FCP 5.1, correct? Have you read this?

5.1 is the only version that supports the removal of pulldown frames from P2 media. I would also suggest posting this in the Panasonic P2 forum here on the Cow.

April 28, 2006 at 6:46 pmYes I went back and reshot to make sure the media is indeed 24. I’m using 5.1 and It does not support 24p. If I am wrong about this I would love to be able to read about it somewhere. Thanks for your help.

April 28, 2006 at 6:58 pmRead the link I sent to you in a previous post and look at the little chart they have there. It’s spelled out pretty clearly.

It works just like it does in SD. EVen though NTSC SD is not 24p, you can extract 24p media out it’s NTSC wrapper by shooting with advanced pulldown and removing that pulldown frame. How many pulldown frames do you see when you go through your footage frame by frame? Remember, you should be shooting 24pA, not 24pN. 24pN in 1080 is different than 24pN in 720. In 720, 24pN means 24p NATIVE meaning only 24 frames get recorded to p2. In 1080, 24pN means 24p NORMAL which adds a 3:2 pulldown to the 24 progressive frames to fit into the 1080i 29.97 standard.

April 28, 2006 at 7:17 pmThe HVX200 only has 1080p or pa, no pn. I’ve read that pdf many times before but it gives no helpful specifics.
