In VegasPro5 [since it is open format], how can HD video be rendered for web streamlined HD viewing, and, rendered to be opened in a bluray-authoring application (ie. DVD Architect 5) ?
Even though VegasPro5 cannot preview or burn to disc 1080p, can VegasPro5 still render it for full HD quality on web?

Can 1080p file be burned to DVD-R disc, then show full HD image quality on an HD television when played from a bluray topset?

No. Vegas 5 is extremely old and can barely support HD. It does not come with any good web HD codecs because non existed back then. You really need to use a current version of Vegas Pro if you want to create HD web content.

Yes, but not with Vegas 5. You’ll need to make a AVCHD Blu-ray disc. Unfortunately Vegas 5 doesn’t have an AVCHD codec. If I remember correctly, HDV was the new emerging HD format back then.

    I received suggestions of:
    1) MPEG-4 codec can be downloaded and then accessed through .avi custom in vegas5. Then used for streamline. Also, use HandBrake.

    2) Convert the HD1080 into HDV or MPEG-2, to be edited and rendered in Vegas5. It would be several generations by the time it is presented, but by using the highest bitrate it would make it still reasonably good IQ.

What do you think of those suggestions? Do you have any others that I can try?

    thnx.

Vegas doesn’t like MPEG4 in a AVI container. This is what DivX and Xvid do and Vegas hates it and it causes all sorts or render problems.

This is a good suggestion. Convert the footage to HDV and edit in in Vegas 5. Then make your final render to HDV and re-encode it to MPEG4 with Handbrake. You’ll probably get very good results with this workflow.
