Activity Forums DSLR Video 1080P to 4k Question

I was reading articles about motion pictures such as Iron Man 2, Captain America and Avengers incorporating Canon 5d MarkII and 7D footage into their movies.

Film formats usually are in 4k right? And DSLR video tops out at 1080p so how is it that they use DSLR footage in a 4k film? Upscaling would end up looking horrible wouldn’t it?

Movies are projected in 2K, which is very nearly 1080p.

If they were being projected in 4K, the difference would be very noticeable.

Thanks for the response Shareesh! That does make sense to me now. From what you said, they expand a little bit from 1920 into the 2048.
