    Hello,

I’m trying to create a 1080p sequence without using the DVCPRO HD codec – I really want to use the Apple ProRes 422 HQ codec, but there is no option for 1080p via the Sequence settings…is there another possible way? Do I have to use the Film 2K, but 1920×1080 aspect ratio in order to maintain that quality?

I guess the real issue is that when I set up a new sequence via the audio/video settings, I can choose Apple ProRes 422 HQ 30p 1920×1080 which I would assume is 1080p, but if I check under the Sequence tab, then Settings – it shows the aspect ratio being HDTV 1080i. Does this make sense? Thanks 🙂

If the frame rate is 23.98, then it will be progressive. If it is 29.97, then change the field dominance none.

    That is Correct.

IMHO the reason you did not have a default preset for ProRes @ 1080p is you did not have the a video card installed that would have installed that preset.

1080 is delivered most often as interlaced content for broadcast, that being said even the 23.98 progressive versions still are handle at the display level as interlace.

It is called PsF or a Progressive segmented Frame
