1080p footage, 1080 timeline – Export to 720p file CROPS

Actually its a 59.94i timeline and media that does this cropping on output to 720p
A project with 1080/24p outputs to 720p without that annoying cropping.

The output file has some cropping? Letterbox, pillar box, both?

I’ve often output 1080 from a UHD timeline without any issue. While it renders it displays smaller on the screen which is what I am guessing you mean but that is simply because the project and monitoring is set to UHD so it appears smaller on my screen but the output file has not cropping. If it is just the display during render then that is normal. If it is something else and apparent in the file then please clarify

by cropped I mean the file is still 720p but the sides and some top is cropped, like you zoomed in on the video. Center punch so to speak.

Footage is 1080i 59.94
Timeline 1080p 29.97
export 1080p looks correct.
export a 720p version and it’s only the middle 720 of the whole image. cropped/center-punched.

Again, does not do this with other projects where the media is p.

Yes that is not expected behaviour and might be a bug related to the camera original footage. One way to tell is to render a 1080p version, bring that back into a new timeline and then output the 720p. If it fixes it then it points to a bug with the camera original format. If it doesn’t it might be a project setting regarding scaling so check your project settings.

Here’s screen shots;
4k media in a 1080 edit.
Export to a 720p file and it crops.
Export to a 1080 file and it’s correct, no crop.

Note the settings on left, hard to read maybe.
