    our station is doing one of our first high def shows. I need to create graphics for the show. so in photoshop I need to open new and choose HDV 1440 x 1080. will this work? am I way off? what resolution should I use?

    1440×180 is a non-square format, so your graphics are going to look squished. I usually design in 1920×1080 square pixels, then scale the graphic at final output.
