[Bobby Cullipher] “We were exporting straight from FCP to Compressor; that’s what we were told to do”

And, I’m telling you otherwise, because I want to you see you succeed…

That was very cool of ya. Appreciate the support! You have a great website, btw.

I tried using the full rez export we created, but after loading it in Compressor and changing all the setting to “Better, we clicked submit and it just sat there. Status bar never changed. Has said “Unknown Time Remaining” for about 35 minutes now. I’m at a loss… Can’t believe burning a quality DVD is this tough for us. Again, appreciate the support.

You need to download and run the free Compressor Repair utility from https://www.digitalrebellion.com. Then, run the exported self contained file through Compressor again.

You should always export a self contained file first… That should be ingrained in your workflow from now on…

I followed this thread with interest since I’ve always been disappointed with the DVD image quality from Compressor. I tried changing the setting to “Best” in resize filter, and am working from a DVCPROHD 1080i .mov file, but the quality remains the same as the default 90 min. setting from Apple. Sure, the DVD looks fine on an SD monitor, but attach it to a 46″ LCD (even using a Blu-ray player for it’s upscaling) and the picture quality suffers. My usual workflow is to burn the disk in my Pioneer DVD LX-1, albeit with it’s limited menu functions.

Thanks for sharing! Too many others are happy with the results, so it must be a simple step that we’re missing. But the time researching the issue has cost us far too much $ to continue. Gotta cut bait. We use Toast10 for archiving to Blue Ray… so, we tried a burn using Toasts highest settings for HD to SD DVD-R, and the results are as good if not better than all of the attempts with Compressor. And best of all, it took less than 45 minutes to burn a 28:30 show! So, we’ll be Toasting our DVDs from now on.

I would agree on all points right now.
