    Hi Everyone

I am editing a project in DVC PRO HD 720P 30. I have alot of interlaced archive footage to be edited into this project. which are listed below:

    DV NTSC 720:480
1080i dvc pro hd (which is converted from HDV 1080i 60)

I have exported the interlaced footage to 720p30 via both quicktime and compresser to be able to use it in my project. Howewer I am getting still getting a lot of interlacing issues.

Is there a way around this, such as removing a field then duplicating the other one? etc

    Any ideas much appriciated.

    Thank you

    Zee.

[Zeliha] “I am editing a project in DVC PRO HD 720P 30. I have alot of interlaced archive footage to be edited into this project. which are listed below:”

First off, I would edit this project in 720/59.94 so the frame rate matches your SD footage much better. Whether you capture 720/30 or 720/60, the footage will look the same. This is what we do here.

Then use a hardware converter such as the AJA Kona 3 to up / cross convert your footage to 720/59.94 during ingest. This way you bring your 1080i/60 DVCPro HD footage directly into your system at 720/60 and you can upconvert your DV to 720/60 during ingest. No exporting, no problems.

look into the Natress filters, graeme’s de-interlace filter is one of the best at any price.

when you run your interlaced footage through compressor, you can deinterlace it using the filters tab. The deinterlacing filter has an option for blurring or blending the fields together, I’ve found that it works pretty well.

I disagree, don’t use the de-interlace filter in Compressor. It’s their old de-interlaacer that
they included for non-critical stuff. Use Advanced Format Conversion. It’s in the Apple presets, Advanced Format Conversions. Select the right format and edit it. In Frame Controls, select Resize Filter-Best, Output Fileds-Progressive, Deinterlace-Best, and Rate Conversion-Best. The result is much much better than the regular de-interlace filter.
