    Using Vegas 10.e, Sony/AVC, 4:47 length video

    1080-24p, 16 mil bps (default values)
    415 MB

    720-30p, 8 mil bps (default values)
    234 MB

    Do these filesizes look “as expected”; ie, ~400 MB for a 4+ min 1080-24p mp4?

    It is impossible to predict filesize of an encoded format. The amount of compression depends exclusively on the content and the filesize depends entirely on the bitrate.

    You can have small files or high quality – never both.
