Can’t change the editing timebase of a sequence… what is it that you’re trying to do? What’s you’re deliverable. There’s a better way I’ll bet.

We want to edit in the native 23.98 but the broadcast deliverables are 29.97. What would you suggest?

The best way would be to have your capture card (Kona, Decklink, Matrox) add the pulldown on output to tape. If you do not have one, then you can do it in Compressor.

You did not state your editing codec, but If you edited in ProRes @23.98, just use the ProRes preset in Compressor. Change the frame rate to 29.97 and Compressor. You do not need to change the Frame Controls to Best…just leave it set to fast. Compressor will add the proper pulldown. When you finish encoding, bring the file into FCP and use the modify timecode command to change to DF.

    Thanks so much!

I am editing in ProRes so I’ll try this for sure!
