Then I guess I should elaborate since I guess I wasn’t very detailed the first time.

1) Time Machine: This brings the same ‘auto-save’ feature that Final Cut has built-in to all of your other apps. I’ve already used a Time Machine backup to return to a previous DVD Studio Pro file. That was only possible in Final Cut before. Yes, I back my files up, but not multiple times a day. It’s nice to have this Final Cut feature on all my studio apps now.

2) Back to my Mac: In our business there are many tasks that involve lots of waiting. Compressions that take hours or days, even. Often you have to wait for some long compression or render in one program only to follow that up with another long procecess in another program. Often this means a 90 second task in the middle of two 12-hour processes. Being able to trigger this process from a remote location frees you up to actually go out for the day. Being tied to your computer while you work is one thing, being tied to it so that yopu can watch IT work is quite another!

3) Quick Look: True, apps tend to load pretty quickly now, but being able to instanly view a Photoshop file from the Finder without launching Photoshop (or whatever) saves a few seconds. Over the course of a day it adds up.

4) Networked drives: On Tiger, if a firewire drive gets ejected from one computer, any other computer that was accessing that drive goes crazy looking for it. Often to the point that Finder becomes un-usable for several minutes. Leopard segments this task off so that a missing drive doesn’t bog down the whole computer for 5 minutes. Obviously, that’s going to negatively affect your editing and I’m glad to be rid of it.

Yes Jeremy. In Intel Mac in Leopard, FC6, with Shake and AE8.0.
Itried again ike one month ago. I was just getting noise instead of pictures.
I found only one thread in an Apple forum about the issue. I asked in the AE forum in the Cow and somebody told me; Just do as we do, export stills sequences.
Do works now for you?

I am capturing right now, but I have definitely rendered 10bit ProRes out of AE on Leopard.

Will check in a few. Like I said though, I don’t have Shake.

I guess I did it. Anyway in AE I end up having the corruption in the screen whenever I changed the project to 16 or 32b. In Shake the Flipbook rendered OK. Same the small render viewer, but the file on export, only “animated-colored-gaussian noise-on white”.

10 bit rendering works with AE CS3 and Leopard.

I just ran a few tests and they came out clean as a whistle.

Jeff. Your’re right about the added features in Leopard, but I was assuming the OP was aware of these anyway. We are comparing FCP6 with FCP6. In FCS2 there is no added feature enabled by running Leopard – that was what I meant. Sorry if I wasn’t clear.

Hi Jeremy,
I tried now with Shake and works fine. I can render in 10b. I guess with AE will works too.
But I swear it doesn’t few months ago. I guess some bugs has been killed since FC6.0/QT7.3.
