I updated to Mojave and FCPX 10.4.4 It will no longer import AVCHD files from my C100. Also Compressor does not recognize AVCHD files to convert. I have to use QuickTime to export each clip. Has Apple abandoned AVCHD support?

Check the Canon site for an update.
Sometimes it’s not an Apple issue but an update of third-party support.

I imported 1080p AVCHD from an older Canon camcorder a few days ago. I don’t remember which one, maybe an HF-G10. It worked fine. This was on an iMac Pro running FCPX 10.4.4, macOS 10.14.2, and Pro Video Formats 2.0.7.

If you have not installed Pro Video Formats 2.0.7, do that. Starting with Mojave you do that from System Preferences>Software Update.

In general I recommend externally re-wrapping AVCHD with EditReady, then importing with “leave files in place”, but direct import from the on-disk AVCHD bundle seems to work with 10.4.4. As always, bare AVCHD files should never be copied outside the bundle and imported.

I have a C100 mkII and have no problem importing AVCHD footage into FCP 10.4.4. I am on High Sierra though.

Thanks for all the posts. It looks like the import box defaulted to ‘photos’ instead of ‘video’. Never noticed that. It’s a case of if your computer doesn’t turn on, immediately tear apart the motherboard instead of looking to see if it’s even plugged in.

Imports work fine if you look to import video instead of photos…

For what it’s worth Jeffrey, as a word of moral support and encouragement–“been there, done that.” For some reason I get bit with that exact thing from time-to-time.

The other one that occasionally bites me is switching around in the Browser from All Clips to Favorites to Hide Rejected, etc. I sometimes forget the last setting I had it on and wonder what happened to my footage I just “know” was right there! So watch for that one too. ☺
