I am trying to output a video that will be displayed on a 1024×768 16:9 monitor from a computer. I am using SD 720i footage.

So I don’t lose any resolution or worry about comprerssion i changed my FCP template to have a 1024×768 screen size and am using the H.264 codec to compress. The size any qaulity are fine when i play it back on the monitor but I get a lot of interlaceing?

where do I fix this? Compressor dosen’t help. I tried all of the “deinterlacing” settings except “Sharp”. I have also tried export out through QuickTime Conversion and that seems to be abpout the same.

How do i get rid of the interlacing on a computer screen?

Compressor *does* help. There have been lots of threads on how best to use Compressor to de-interlace. The first thing to know is that you don’t use the de-interlace filter. It throws away half your resolution.
Duplicate one of the h.264 Presets, go to Frame Controls and change it to Custom,
select Progressive for the output, and select Best for the other settings. DON’T use the de-interlace filter in Filters, it’s a “let’s just throw away half the fields” filter.
