  • 100% CPU in AE whenever mouse moves

Posted by Bobby Circle on June 1, 2005 at 8:30 pm

I tried searching for answers but found none. I have a tablet pc and when I run After Effects 6.5 my CPU runs at 100% just from moving my mouse around within the AE window. If I minimize AE, the CPU will sometimes continue to run at 100%. This would not be such a big deal if it weren’t for the fact it causes the tablet fan to churn constantly, and also wears out the batteries pretty quick.

    Anyone else have this problem?

What Kind of CPU and Graphics card does it have ?
Methinks Tablet PC’s are not really made for graphic work

Well, it’s a Toshiba Tecra M4: Intel 2 GHz CPU, 1 GB ram, 128 MB nVidia GEFORCE.

This problem happens even when there is no project open. I just wiggle the mouse a bit and AE goes to 100% cpu usage! In other words, it’s not like AE is running out of memory or cpu power.

I have no problems running Photoshop.

Try the free GridIron X-Factor. I don’t have any 100% CPU problems anymore…

Just to clarify: Are you saying that I can solve my 100% cpu problem by adding another computer to heolp with the load?

That is not my problem; I repeat: the cpu runs at 100% when NO PROJECT IS OPEN. After Effects is doing absolutely nothing, and the Task Manager reports that AE is consuming 100% of the CPU.

    Thanks,
    D.

No, installing this (you don’t even have to USE the plugin) will eliminate the 100% CPU bug.
