After a week, my native AVCHD seems to be playing just fine with Vegas 10. I’m a happy camper but given that, I’d like a better discount since I paid full price for 9.x, expecting no stutter, since none of their competitors seem to do it. Seems like a 9.0f not a 10.0. There are virtually no enhancements I can tell other than that to 10.0, except 3d which is not worth a dime to me personally. So if you aren’t stuttering, don’t bother paying for an upgrade.

Try reading the White Paper on the What\\\’s New:

Well, I already read the white paper, and as I said, for those of us not yet doing 3d, this seems to be a minor release as opposed to major.

I’m not slamming here, just saying that GPU acceleration should have been there a while back. All of us doing HD editing on this platform have complained for over a year about that. Sony appears to be the last major player to show up with GPU support.

Anyway, as I said, 10 seems worth the upgrade, whether it’s worth the price of the upgrade for those of us who have suffered under the limitations of playback, is debatable. I expected it to work correctly from when I bought it. I wasn’t sold a product that was advertised to work incorrectly.

Alf, this why I invited you to read the white paper:
“There are virtually no enhancements I can tell other than that to 10.0, except 3d which is not worth a dime to me personally.”

So the CUDA is only for rendering, and not for accelerating the preview screen? I still have Vegas 8 and have been waiting for Sony to add acceleration to preview screen. Trying to work on something when preview screen only updates 4-8fps is annoying. Switching to draft mode is just a bad workaround, because the preview window is no longer showing all effects.
