In AE, I make 10 to 30-sec compositions, rendered to Animation .mov which are then placed on my Vegas timeline and rendered to .mpeg for burning. I sometimes, but not reliably, see a slight jump on the final DVD – on closer inspection, this jump is caused by a missing frame on the final .mpeg render, usually near the beginning of the comp. Again, it is not a problem I can reliably duplicate, but has happened on multiple computers with a similar workflow (it once happened using Premiere instead of Vegas). I render 29.97 in both AE and Vegas, using no fields in AE and fields in Vegas. Any thoughts? Thanks -mark

I normally don’t touch the work area except when marking the end of my render, which shouldn’t affect previous frames. In other words, I don’t render a comp in pieces, to then be later squished together. An odd problem indeed, not a particularly crippling one luckily.
