Hey, I’d like to use one effect on multiple tracks but not on the whole output video, how is this possible in vegas 7?

    thanks in advance

Assuming you mean ALL the events on a specific track, apply it at the track level using the Track FX (found in the track header).

If you want to apply it to only some of the tracks, then use the individual track FX where you want them. As far as saving and copying FX attributes, keyframes from one track to another, explain what you want to accomplish and someone more experienced than I will answer.

video track 1 + video track2 = what you see

I want to modify the “what you see” part with an effect.
If I applyed the effect one by one to every track the result would be different for example with gaussian blur.
It’s like video bus track but I don’t wan’t all of the tracks to be effected.
I hope I was clear now.

One idea is to bring those tracks in as a nested comp and apply track effects to the comp. The whole thing is then layered with the other tracks you don’t want the effects applied to. That is, if I understand what you’re looking to do…

[ownerer] “I hope I was clear now.”

    Not yet 🙁
Telling us what’s on each of the tracks and why they’re there might help.

You originally said use one effect on multiple tracks but not on the whole output video.
I’m not sure why my original reply wasn’t satisfactory as it’s what you were asking to do.

Are you sure you mean track (a bunch of clips) and not event (an individual clip)?

I’m assuming you have, for example, 5 tracks in the project and you wish an effect to apply to two of those tracks. If that’s the case, just apply the same effect to those two tracks and don’t apply it to the other three.

I think he is looking for a way to apply it to those two tracks with one action rather than having to apply to each track separately.

[Terry Esslinger] “I think he is looking for a way to apply it to those two tracks with one action rather than having to apply to each track separately.”

As far as I know, that can’t be done.
It’s only a few clicks to apply an FX at the track level so it’s very quick and easy.

None of you understood what the guy, unfortunally, I understood but I am trying to figure the same too…

Explaning what he want, with… math maybe…

    We have:

    BG, A, B, C and FX.

    He wants to do: ((BG + A + B) * FX) + C

    Or explaining in other way:

Let’s suppose, you want to add bloom to EVERYTHING.

So, you add defocus filter with bloom to “output”

Then you decided to add a text…

OH NO, THE TEXT IS BLURRED TOO!!!

Thus, you have to add the filter to EVERYTHING BUT THE TEXT.

But if you apply bloom to each thing individually, it will look wrong (or may not even work at all)

Now my video: I am trying to simulate some old CRT phosphor monitor, I added a text, then horizontal scanlines, then vertical scanlines, and then I need to make that text glow.

If I make the text glow, the scanlines cover the glow.
If I make scanlines glow, it is obviously wrong.
If I make the output glow, it works, but all other clips glow too (and I don’t want that).

So the question is: How I make only specific GROUP of stuff glow?
