Eventide Blackhole Plug-In Awarded with Technical Excellence and Creativity (TEC) Award
Eventide Audio is proud to announce that it has won a 2021 Technical Excellence and Creativity (TEC) Award in the Audio Apps & Hardware/Peripherals for Smartphones & Tablets category for its Blackhole plug-in. The award was presented during the 36th annual TEC Awards, held online Friday, January 22, as part of NAMM’s Believe in Music Week.
The iconic Blackhole massive reverb was first introduced as an algorithm in the rackmount Eventide DSP4000 multipurpose programmable digital audio signal processor. For decades, studio engineers considered Blackhole their “secret weapon,” and it’s become the go-to ambient effect for guitar and keyboard layers. Blackhole offers expansive control to exploit ambient reverb as a creative effect. Along with the standalone app and AUv3 plug-in version for iOS, Blackhole is available in Eventide’s flagship H9000 Harmonizer® multi-effects processor; in the H9 Harmonizer® Effects Processor (a complete pedalboard in one stompbox); as a standalone pedal; and for the desktop as part of the H9 Plug-in Series Bundle for OS X and Windows. With each new version, the reverb has been refined and enhanced.
“The Blackhole reverb has a rich legacy as a cherished tool for Eventide users,” said Eventide’s “resident fossil/managing director” Anthony Agnello. “Now, as evidenced by this TEC award, Blackhole is finding a new generation of fans of the algorithm’s creative potential. We are honored by the loyalty and devotion of our users.” In recognition of its 50th anniversary (1971-2021) as a pioneering professional audio manufacturer, Eventide was presented by the NAMM organization with its prestigious Milestone Award. The annual NAMM Milestone Awards honor music businesses that have flourished through an ever-changing business environment to reach noteworthy anniversaries.
