Boris FX Sapphire Empowers Artists with Effortless AI Masking
The 2025.5 release introduces one-click effect isolation, a refreshed user interface, new pro lens flares, and AMD GPU support.
Boris FX announces a major update to Sapphire, its Emmy Award-winning plugin collection. The 2025.5 release dramatically streamlines post-production workflows with two new AI masking and tracking tools, user-friendly updates to its custom interfaces, a stunning new lens flare pack, gorgeous visuals, and support for AMD GPUs.
“The powerful addition of AI-driven masking and tracking through Sapphire’s built-in Mocha interface isn’t just about convenience; it unlocks new creative possibilities,” states Boris Yamnitsky, President and Founder of Boris FX. “By automating the traditionally time-consuming task of effects isolation, we’re removing a daily technical hurdle. This allows users to dive deeper into the artistic nuances of their projects, and ultimately, leads to richer storytelling.”

AI-Powered Masking & Tracking
Sapphire 2025.5 adds two advanced AI tools directly into the integrated Mocha interface, simplifying complex VFX workflows.
- Object Brush ML enables one-click masking with automatic spline generation and seamless Mocha tracking across frames.
- Matte Assist ML creates a full animated matte from a single frame, allowing for fast, accurate, and segmented masking.
These tools make it easier than ever to isolate, animate, and precisely apply any effect, including glows, zaps, or stylized looks.

Redesigned User Interface
A sleek new look spans the Preset Browser, Effect and Transition Builder, and Flare Designer. The updated interface features cleaner layouts, refined controls, and a more intuitive user experience.
New Pro Lens Flares
Sapphire 2025.5 introduces a collection of eight cinematic flares created by veteran VFX artists Doug Hogan and Ben Brownlee. Each flare, based on real-world references from blockbuster films and TV, strikes a balance between stylized artistry and photographic realism.

GPU Acceleration for AMD
Windows users with the AMD Radeon™ PRO W6000 and W7000 Series, as well as the AMD Ryzen™ AI Max PRO Series, benefit from faster rendering speeds and smoother interactivity within all host applications.
