Blackmagic Design Used on 2024 Oscar Nominated Films

Blackmagic Design congratulates the many film professionals and films that were nominated as part of the 96th Academy Awards 2024 and who used a variety of Blackmagic Design production and post production products.

Since the company’s founding in 2002, hundreds of Oscar® nominated films from around the world in all types of categories have used Blackmagic Design hardware and software. In 2024, the range includes short films such as “Knight of Fortune” and “Nǎi Nai and Wài Pó,” and global blockbusters, including “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,” “Maestro” and “Oppenheimer.”

2024 nominees using Blackmagic Design products include more than 20 films across the technical, documentary, short film, international feature film and animated categories.

Some of this year’s nominees that used DaVinci Resolve Studio during post production include:

  • “20 Days in Mariupol” graded by Jim Ferguson at the OutPost at GBH for Frontline;
  • “Anatomy of a Fall” graded by Magali Léonard of Chroma Shapers;
  • “Bobi Wine: The People’s President” graded by Andrew Daniel at Goldcrest Post, with DaVinci Resolve Studio also used for online editorial and finishing;
  • “The Boy and the Heron” graded by Tetsuji Yamashita of Imagica Entertainment Media Services using DaVinci Resolve Studio for the film’s Dolby Cinema version;
  • “The Color Purple” graded by Stefan Sonnenfeld of Company 3;
  • “Godzilla Minus One” graded by Masahiro Ishiyama of ARTONE FILM;
  • “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” graded by Stefan Sonnenfeld, with additional color by Adam Nazarenko and Parker Jarvie of Company 3;
  • “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” graded by Skip Kimball of Company 3;
  • “Io Capitano” graded by Angelo Francavilla of Grande Mela Digital Films, with DaVinci Resolve Studio also used for online editorial and finishing;
  • “Knight of Fortune” graded by colorist Kristopher Paterson with DaVinci Resolve Studio also used for online editorial and finishing;
  • “Maestro” graded by Stefan Sonnenfeld of Company 3;
  • “Nǎi Nai and Wài Pó” graded by Sam Gilling;
  • “Napoleon” graded by Stephen Nakamura of Company 3;
  • “Nyad” graded by Stephen Nakamura, with additional color by Andrew Geary, of Company 3;
  • “Oppenheimer” digital grade by Kostas Theodosiou of Fotokem;
  • “Past Lives” graded by Tom Poole of Company 3;
  • “Poor Things” graded by Greg Fisher of Company 3;
  • “Red, White and Blue” graded by Chris Boyer of Picture Shop;
  • “Society of the Snow” graded by Chema Alba of Deluxe Madrid, with DaVinci Resolve Studio also used for online editorial and finishing; and
  • “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” graded by Natasha Leonnet of Picture Shop.
