First let me start off by praising the power of “The Product Assistant” software. The montage tool is a real time saver an the Lower thirds tool is awesome (having all the work done for you). I just wished I would have waited 2 days later to purchase because I missed a $40. savings by just 2 days. I was running the demo which only had about 1 day left and I was working on a large church project and did not want to be without it before I was able to finish the project. This project is the point of discussion. I am doing this free of charge and plan to show it at a celebration that will occur in June. I was hoping to take orders through the church secretary for the purchase of these videos. Is their an inexpensive way I can copy protect this? In addition to its value as a historical documentary, I wanted the parish to be able to benefit some from the sale of the DVD’s. Thanks in advance Ron

There is no way to copy protect a DVD that is burned. Professional copy protection only works with “pressed” DVD’s and even that is a waste of money because any 12 year old kid with free software can copy any DVD they want.

This is for a church? I’d add a warning to the “first play” video that appeals to their sense of Christianity in not making illegal copies. Something alone the line of “all proceeds benefit the church, making illegal copies is like stealing from the Sunday collection basket” or something along those lines should make the point. 😉

I have found that if you produce a quality product and set a fair price that people will tend to buy it rather than copy from a friend. It’s only when someone is charging $50 for a dance recital in which you are only interested in the 3 minutes that your kid is in it, do parents tend to buy one copy and “share” it.

Thank you for the response John. That is exactly what I will do. I am sure it will work for 99 per cent of the people.
