Cant open my sony vegas file!
Hello,
I’ve been working on making a montage from a game called ” Modern warfare 2 ”
I worked on this with sony vegas pro 9.
When i went sleeping i saved it and turned off the computer,
the next day when i tried to open the project to continue editing,
this message appeared ;”An error occurred while loading the project file (name of file).veg.
The item was not found ”
I worked really hard on this montage, and dont want to lose it.
I hope someone can help me.Sjoerd.

Vegas always creates backup files (unless you inactivated this option). Just try to open the backup file. You will find it in the same folder as the original veg file. However you will have to rename so that the extention will be .veg

I have the same problem!! Please, I worked so hard on it. I spent hours and hours on it. And the due date for my video is tomorrow. And last night I finished working on it, and now it says that the file isn’t found! Please tell me, where do I find the back up file? Please reply soon!

Theo already told you what to do.
The backup file will be named something like myvideo.veg.bak
If it’s not in the same folder as the source file, then you’ll have to do a search of your hard drive(s) for it. -

Well, it’s amazing but after 5 years you helped someone, now you helped me. I got the same problem that the guy in 2010.
The file I was working was unable to be opened. I searched the autosave files that vegas produce any time the program suddenly close or just stucks, but I didn’t find anything there because with this project nothing wrong had happened.
Fortunately, before killing myself I found this forum with the solution. I didn’t know what was the file “.veg.bak” for. Thanks to you I know now.
I just changed the extension “bak” to “veg”, and it worked !!!!
