what does snapping mean? snap to grid? etc.

Some of the tools in Vegas like Pan/Grop have imaginary grid lines (really just dots) but it will snap the cursor to those dots to assist you in drawing straight lines or just lining up anything you want.

Snapping will also let you be sure that you have joined different segments onj the timeline as they will ‘snap’ together and a colored line will flash to confirm the placement.
