Multicamera mode sync issue
Posted by Roger Bansemer on March 16, 2010 at 1:39 pmWhen using multicamera mode, I get strange unsync information when I touch two clips together. If I am breaking up a long clip, it occurs during some breaks and not at others. This video will explain.
Thanks

March 17, 2010 at 11:35 amLet us know what type of files you are using, DV, MXF, TS etc and I will see if I can replicate the problem here. I do a lot of Vegas multicam and haven’t seen this one… yet!

March 17, 2010 at 12:52 pmI am using two tracks with Mt2s files and one with M2t.
Here’s the scenario. I shoot the program and my first step is to cut apart all the sections I don’t want. I leave them all in place however with no ripple. When I get done with this then I take the clips and ripple them together one by one starting at the end of the program and working to the beginning. So none of the clips have been altered any differently than the others. BUT when I begin to ripple them this unsync happens to about 10% of the clips.
It’s strange. -

March 19, 2010 at 8:14 amI was away when you posted but am back now and have given it a go. For the life of me I cannot get this to happen. I don’t have any Mt2s files here but I tried it with three tracks of long m2t files. Chopped them up into pieces, removed the bits I didn’t want and using your method from the back end rippled the clips back both with and without ‘Event Grouping’. Can’t get an audio track to go that reddish out’o sync color.
I even tried switching ‘Quantize to Frames’ off and purposely cut in between vision frame boundaries to see if that would cause the problem. Still no issues.
When the audio clip goes reddish does it show you an out of sync +/- at the head of the audio clip? If not try right clicking on the reddish audio clip and using the right click/synchronize/moving or slipping mode and see if the clip moves and changes color. My bet is that it won’t move but will go back to its correct color. If that is the case then it could be a bug. Interested to hear how you go.

March 19, 2010 at 12:37 pmConcerning the slip/move function:
I have often gone to that feature thinking that something has moved. 98% of the time those options are greyed out. Occasionally it’s available and I click slip and the pink turns white but nothing has visibly moved at all. AND sometimes but not very often often I click slip and the audio move FAR “OUT” of sync no where close to what it should be yet the clip turns back to white. -

March 20, 2010 at 8:36 amI have experienced both of the scenarios you mentioned but only during editing as opposed to multicam work. Sometimes no movment with slip/move and sometimes way out of sync like many minutes out. Never quite worked that one out. I have learned to live with it because as you say sometimes the audio clip goes back to normal without moving. I think it’s a minor bug which hopefully will get fixed in v9.0d… whenever that’s due!

March 20, 2010 at 12:11 pmGlad to know this may be a bug and not something I have been doing to cause this. As you said, it’s just a minor inconvenience but one that baffled me.
