Preview won’t function via Vegas’ explorer window
Vegas has an explorer window, and I find it useful to use it in order to locate media. I have a lot of media, lots of digitaljuice stuff, lots of files. I find it useful to locate those files through the Vegas explorer window, then rightclick and hit the play button. That allows me to preview the media.
Used to work.
Today it’s not working. It’s not working for any pictures or video or sound or anything. And when I try to preview, the preview window stays black and reduces to half it’s size for a few seconds, then goes back to the normal size. The preview window just stays black.
I should note that the preview window works fine for actually previewing what’s in the timeline. But you must realize, previewing what’s in the timeline is not what I want to accomplish.
It takes exponentially more time to drag and drop “random” media into the timeline to actually see what it looks like in order to decide whether or not to use it. I don’t want to, and shouldn’t have to, do that.
How do I fix the preview problem?

This I haven’t seen before?
One suggestion. Try restoring all Vegas functions to the original Vegas ‘defaults’.
Note: ‘A WORD OF WARNING’ If you do this all your preferences will be reset plus all project properties will go back to the default settings as they were when you installed Vegas. Any folder assignments, such a temp folder, recorded files folder etc will also go back to default. This means if you do a reset be prepared to set up your project properties, preferences and personal defaults again.
If you want to try this hold down your CTRL and SHIFT keys as you double-click opening Vegas. You will be prompted with a dialogue box asking wether you want to reset to Vegas defaults. OK that if you wish to proceed. No guarantee but often this does fix certain behavioural anomalies displayed by Vegas.
Maybe someone has a better option or knows a fix for this?
