  • Error when Rendering HD .mpg2

Hi, I am using Vegas 9B and whenever I try rendering a 1920×1080 .mpg2, I get the following error:

An error occured while creating the media file xx.mpg. The reason for the error could not be determined

    Detailed specs are as followed:
    Output type – MPEG-2
    1920×1080
    29.97
    16:9
    CBR 15,000,000 bps

My source file is a 1920×1080 Avid DNxHD .mov. However I’ve tried a few different source clips, always the same result.

When I open my old Vegas 6, use the same source and same render template – it renders completely fine. Known issue with 9?

[big sigh…] Vegas Pro 9 has had it’s share of rendering problems. I would report it to Sony so that hopefully they can fix it in the next update if it is Vegas related (and since it works in Vegas 6 that does point to a problem with Vegas 9) 🙁

Following up on this – Brought it to the attention of Sony Tech Support and I sent them a copy of my render template. They were able to re-create the error on their system.

I found a solution. In short – if you are looking to render a 1920×1080 Main Concept .mpg2, you need to make sure your “Level” in the Video tab is set to “High” under custom settings.
