  • Rendering/reloading a clip makes it brighter?

Hi, I have a problem where rendering out an AVI with any codec other than SonyYUV and simply reloading it again makes it noticeably more contrasty. If I do it more and more times, the clip gets progressively more and more contrasty (and information is being lost – if I bring it back down with an event fx contrast node I can see things are getting clamped at the top and bottom).

Anybody have any ideas what could be going on?

Case 1: Render as SonyYUV and reload: Looks fine. However, load that SonyYUV clip into VirtualDub and resave (with no filters), and it is too contrasty.

Case 2: Render as AVI using any other codec (I tried uncompressed, huffYUV, ffd, and some others I believe): new AVI file is too contrasty. Loading back into Vegas and rerendering the clip results in even more contrast and lost information at the top and bottom.

Any ideas of what could be going on? I have no event or track FX being applied.

    Thanks.
